Could that _SPECIFIC INSTALLATION_ of NASM have been built with a sanitizer by
the NASM team as part of their testing? In other words maybe they forgot to
remove the debug code so only that specific installation of NASM which fails
for me has the problem? That could explain why you don't encounter the problem,
that you are testing with a _DIFFERENT NASM 2.14.01 installation. That would
also explain why NASM 2.14 has always worked for me, as NASM always have.

In other words could the problem be with the SPECIFIC NASM install which I
mentioned below,
